Extreme pressure agent
These are compounds containing phosphorous, sulphur, chlorine, bismuth and nitrogen, among others, that react with the metallic surface forming new compounds, which act as a “barrier” preventing the destructive contact of metal against metal.
EP additives only become active under extreme pressure conditions with the rupture of the lubricant film. When this occurs, the released heat causes a chemical reaction that induces the formation of new compounds.
Indicated for formulations of cutting oils, greases and lubricants in general.
