Water-based paints: Dispersants
The dispersant is the additive responsible for keeping the solid-liquid dispersion homogeneous. If the dispersion is deficient, several defects can occur such as: flaking, loss of gloss and coverage capacity, color change, floating and sedimentation, among other things.
After dispersion by shear forces the dispersants keep the primary particles stabilized by two mechanisms:
- Electrostatic repulsion;
- Steric Impediment;
Products line:
LIOSPERSE® 510
Dispersant based on sodium polyacrylate of medium molecular weight for aqueous systems, especially indicated for dispersion of mineral loads and inorganic pigments in water for paints and slurries production.
Indicative dosages: 0,3 to 1,0%, which should be optimized in laboratory, adjusting viscosity, absorption and water sensitivity to specific needs.
LIOSPERSE® 511
Dispersant based on ammonium polyacrylate, of medium molecular weight, for aqueous systems, especially indicated for dispersion of mineral loads and inorganic pigments in water for paints and slurries production.
Indicative dosages: 0,3 to 1,0%, which should be optimized in laboratory, adjusting viscosity, absorption and water sensitivity to specific needs.
LIOSPERSE® 515
It is a dispersing agent with alkaline reserve for aqueous systems, specially indicated for dispersion of inorganic pigments and natural fillers in water, for the production of coatings and slurries.
INDICATIVE DOSAGES
We recommended dosages of 0.3 to 1.0 %, which can be optimized by laboratorial tests that allows to adjust the product to specific needs, considering viscosity, absorption and water sensibility. Because of its ionic character, use the product in pH higher than 7.5 in order to obtain better performance.
